(AllHipHop News) West Coast/TDE rapper Kendrick Lamar was recently added to Philadelphia’s Global Fusion Festival’s lineup. The festival has already enlisted Brandy, Elle Varner, Luke James, Kenny Lattimore and RK>, and Keny Y.
Having worked with West Coast legends Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, who personally signed the Compton rapper to his Aftermath/Interscope Records label, Lamar has seen a rapid rise to success over the last year.
While his hit song “The Recipe” is in heavy rotation on radio stations nationwide, Lamar has continued to make his rounds across the country, officially agreeing to perform at the free by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC).
MAC, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), has set the date for Saturday, July 21 as part of PECO’s Multicultural Festival Series at Penn’s Landing.
The division was formed in 1987 as the first multicultural division of a Convention & Visitors Bureau in the nation, and seeks to maximize opportunities for the region by promoting Philadelphia as an ethnically-diverse visitor destination, encouraging multicultural business and social responsibility that contributes to and benefits from the varying multicultural communities that enhance the region’s hospitality and tourism industry.
To date, the Global Fusion Festival is Philadelphia’s largest one-day festival, and is expected to attract more than 30,000 attendees.
The “Rhapsody”-themed event will also feature cultural performers, multicultural vendors, and a children’s pavilion.
The festival celebrates Philadelphia’s African Diaspora, Hispanic, Caribbean, and Asian cultures joining together to showcase their unity on one stage.
