(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper, and G-Unit South representer Shawty Lo recently caught up with AllHipHop.com about his newest mixtape Million Dollar Man, the prelude to his Still Got Units album set to be released early next year.
The first single on the project, titled “MVP”, features Gucci Mane and Rocko, while the project also features songs from 50 Cent, 2 Chainz, Gorilla Zoe, Alley Boy, Jim Jones, Cash Out, Lola Monroe, and several others.
“The fans are loving the mixtape, I really want to drop a video for each song on the mixtape, I want to show you what I can do, and ‘Million Dollar Man’ [MDM] does that. MDM is setting up for my album ‘Still Got Units’ for the first quarter in the year coming up,” Shawty Lo explained to AllHipHop.com. “MDM, you know Lebron had won the MVP, and Heat won the championship, so I put a record together with me, Gucci, and Rocko, and after the first few hours of its release it was on over one hundred websites.”
Shawty Lo also explained that he was been busy setting up the G-Unit South imprint, established under 50 Cent’s G-Unit umbrella of companies.
“Everything is going well. I just been working hard, man. I know that people been wondering what’s going on, but I just had to bury the seed and you finna see everything going on with us right now,” Shawty Lo explained of his work with G-Unit.
“50 is great, he’s product, genius. I love working for 50. To start off, when I got my deal, I had like several deals on the table, and I had like a seven-hour meeting with 50. I knew that’s where I wanted to be. My deal was a large deal; it was a $10 million deal, but the money is to help me build my brand, to sign artists, the label, the south branch of G-Unit. You know, if an artist comes out with a single down here [Atlanta], it may take several months to make its way up to New York or California, so basically I am right here right now. So, they can get to me, and we can make sure that things move quickly,” Shawty Lo said.
Shawty Lo also has a host of artists and producers that he is looking to sign under the G-Unit South imprint that are from across the south.
“I got artists from my Super Star CJ, Stuntman, the first lady of D4L named Jai Jai, Jurari from Alabama, and I got a lot of hot producers that I’m looking to sign.”
But amidst the robust and growing lineup of the G-Unit imprint, there have also been rumors swirling in the past few months about a beef amongst its members, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks, a beef that Shawty Lo vehemently denies.
“You know I don’t like to talk about personal issues in the family, man; everything is solid. If we have issues, it usually gets swept under the rug, and I don’t really feel like we have issues; every family goes through things sometimes, and that’s how it be,” Shawty Lo explained about the recent rumors of beef amongst G-Unit members.
