(AllHipHop News) There is tragic news hitting the Hip Hop community this morning.
2 Live Crew’s Christopher Wong Won, aka Fresh Kid Ice, is reportedly dead at the age of 53.
According to TMZ, Fresh Kid Ice passed away in Miami.
Fellow 2 Live Crew founding member Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell shared the information via Twitter.
“My Condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Wong Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend,” wrote Luke.
Miami rap star Rick Ross also tweeted out a rest in peace message, “Dam! Just got call we lost 2 Live crew legend Fresh Kid Ice this morning! RIP.”
2 Live Crew was a groundbreaking rap group whose explicit content helped lead to the creation of the Parental Advisory warning sticker.
They were also participants in the historic Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc. United States Supreme Court decision which favored the artists’ right to create parody as fair use.
A biopic about Uncle Luke and the rest of the 2 Live Crew is currently in the works.
