(AllHipHop News) Even after twenty years, the murder mystery surrounding Tupac Shakur still makes headlines. The latest revelation about the 1996 fatal shooting in Las Vegas comes from A&E’s Who Killed Tupac? docuseries.

TMZ reports the .40 caliber Glock that killed Tupac was discovered in the backyard of the girlfriend of a prominent Crip member that was a rival of the Hip Hop icon. Who Killed Tupac? claims a document allegedly shows Compton police booked the weapon as found property on May 30, 1998.

Apparently, the firearm was transferred to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department in 2000 when the Compton City Council disbanded its law enforcement agency. Six years later, an LASD deputy is said to have run a ballistic test and the gun was a match to the weapon that murdered Pac.

According to TMZ, a federal prosecutor assigned to the case recommended the gun not be turned over to Las Vegas investigators in order to avoid potential conspirators learning about the state of the case. The LVPD now has no clue where the gun is located, and they apparently were unaware of the supposed Compton PD document.

On Who Killed Tupac?, famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump shared the news of the alleged murder weapon being found with Tupac’s brother Mopreme Shakur. The finale of the six-part investigative series airs on Tuesday at 10 pm ET.
