Rapper 50 Cent heeded
the advice contained in his major label debut, Get Rich or Die Trying,
and has earned over $50 million dollars in the past year.
Through various
endorsement deals, films, record label, clothing and a sneaker line, the self-admitted
former crack dealer had a remarkable year.
According to the
New York Times, the rapper’s deal with Ecko Unlimited brought in over $50 million
in wholesale sales, while his G-Unit footwear line through Reebok made him a
whopping $20 million.
Add in G-Unit Records,
which released top-selling records from cohorts Young Buck and Lloyd Banks,
an endorsement deal with Glaceau to produce “Formula 50,” a grape
flavored vitamin and "Groupie Luv," a #1 adult DVD and its obvious
50 Cent has put his street smarts to good use in 2004.
In 2005, the Queens,
New York native has major projects slated for release.
Included is a major
motion picture, a video game through Vivendi/Universal games, a new album The
Saint Valentines Day Massacre
, a limited edition vitamin water drink called“Formula 50” and the launch of a women’s division of G-Unit
clothing.
The rapper is expected
to debut near the top of 2004’s highest entertainers lists.
