(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent is adamant that simplicity is the key to making hit music.
The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, released single “In da Club” back in January 2003, with the catchy tune quickly becoming an international hit.
Reflecting on the 15th anniversary of his debut, Fif told said it was easy to make the track.
“Simplicity is a big key to hit music,” he said of “In da Club.” “Don’t overthink things, just organically see what you feel when the production comes in. Like (the lyric), ‘Go shorty, it’s your birthday.’ It’s not rocket science. It’s a simple statement.
“Every day is someone’s birthday so it sticks around, right?”
The track featured on his album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which was produced Dr. Dre and Eminem, and 50 went on to release four more albums before turning his hand to the world of acting.
The 42-year-old is currently starring on crime drama “Power” on U.S. network Starz and is promoting action thriller *Den of Thieves,” which also features Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
“I’ve been doing music since 1997. It’s first nature for me. The challenge of being part of a film project is really exciting. There’s no constraints in film; you can be anything,” he explained of his transition to Hollywood.
