Superstar rapper DMX is starring opposite legendary songwriter/actor Kris Kristofferson in a new movie titled Jump Out Boys. The movie centers around escaped convicts, one which is played by Kristofferson, who has starred in various movies like Convoy, Blade, Planet of the Apes and Fast Food Nation. Various shootout scenes, car chases and explosions included in the movie were shot in Port Manchac and Ponchatoula, Louisiana, last week. Even the Ponchatoula Police Department is getting in on the act with bit roles in the movie, which has no release date as of press time.
Producer/rapper Timbaland’s latest single “The Way I Are” has toppled Rihanna from the British singles chart, ending her record setting 10-week run at #1 with her hit single “Umbrella,” which features Jay-Z. “Umbrella” was the longest running #1 single on the British charts since 1994, when Wet Wet Wet held the spot for a still unbeaten 15 weeks. “Umbrella” slipped to the #3 position, as Kate Nash’s single “Foundations” remained at #2 for the second week in a row. Timbaland’s album Shock Value also debuted at #2 on the British album’s chart.
Police in Toronto, Canada are seeking for suspects and witnesses to the shooting death of 25-year-old rapper Michael ” Meyend Trick” George, who was a member of the rap group LowLife. George was ambushed in front of his house around 3:30 am yesterday morning. According to police, the rapper was shot in the head and chest as he attempted to exit his Chevy Malibu. Police have yet to determine a motive for the slaying and are seeking the public’s help in retracing George’s steps the evening he was shot and killed. Crooked Lettaz member Kamikaze will reunite with fellow Jackson, Mississippi rapper David Banner during the 2007 Crunk Tour/Hip-Hop Jam Festival, which kicks off August 3 in the Czech Republic. Banner, Kamikaze, DJ Phingaprint and Compton rapper The Game will headline the massive festival, which is sponsored by T-Mobile and takes place at the airport in Mimon in North Bohemia. The show marks the first time time Kamikaze has performed in the country. Kamikazi and DJ Phingaprint will also stay for a tour of the Czech Republic, where they will perform with local groups like by PSH, Indy & Wich, Kontrafakt, Supercrooo, Pio Squad, H16, Vec and others.
