In recognition of
slain Run DMC DJ Jam Master Jay, New York City is honoring the Jam Master Jay
Foundation for Youth during a special ceremony at City Hall Wednesday (March 23).
The ceremony will pay homage to Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, as it honors
the formation of the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Youth and the "J-Whip"
project. After an 11 a.m. press conference, a private reception with Speaker Gifford
Miller will be held, followed by an official declaration ceremony in the City
Council Chambers at 1:00 p.m.
The Neptunes front man Pharrell Williams recently revealed that
their group N*E*R*D has been dismantled. According to Williams, the group had
irreconcilable differences with their label, Virgin Records. Williams explained
that he wasn’t happy with the relationship with Virgin for almost two
years. Virgin recently underwent a regime change, with Jermaine Dupri taking
over as head of Urban music.
Luther “Luke”
Campbell is tying the knot and to celebrate, the former 2 Live Crew front man
will hosted a bachelor party last night in Los Angeles. The event featured performances
by Luke and appearances from various celebrities including Trick Daddy, Jacki-O
and Petey Pablo. The evening was taped for a future DVD release that will feature
commentaries on the erotic activities taking place at Luke’s bachelor
party.
Three 6 Mafia have announced an April release date for their movie “Choices
II: The Setup.” The movie is the sequel to their best-selling 2001 straight
to DVD release “Choices,” which moved over 100,000 copies to day.
The movie will be released as a combination DVD/CD package that will include
the soundtrack to the flick. The first single from the album is called “Who
I Is” featuring Trillville and Lil Wyte. Other artists on the soundtrack
include various artists on the group’s Hypnotize Minds imprint. The combo
package is slated to hit stores on April 19.
