The Game seems to be preparing part two of his offensive against 50 Cent and G-Unit. The Compton-bred rapper has stated that he’s prepping a song that will “kill mother f***ers this time around.” Via his Black Wall Street site, Game stated, “About a week and a half from hittin’ the net [is] the title track ‘300 Bars N Running.’ The song will be released by this Tuesday or Wednesday! Once again, I will be ending careers with this one! Also included will be audio from Hot 97 Summer Jam in New York City.” In related news, 50 Cent is rumored to be planning his retaliation through the Anger Management Tour, which launches July 7 in Noblesville, IN.
Rapper C.L. Smooth has signed to Shaman Work Recordings and is planning a new album and EP. The rapper is known mostly for his work with Pete Rock, he’s never come out as a solo artist. In a statement, C.L. Smooth said, “I just thank Shaman Work for having the vision of me coming on to do this solo record. The EP is just the beginning; we have a lot more in store." The album is expected to hit stores in early 2006 and will feature Arsonist of the Heatmakerz, Mike Lowe and others. A mixtape is expected to drop as well.
R&B/Hip-Hop crooner John Legend is the newest face of Gap retail clothing store. Starting in July, Legend will be involved in an intense television and print ad campaign for the chain. This rounds out a busy first half of 2005 for John Legend after opening a nationwide tour with Alicia Keys and will tour with Common, Lyfe, Common, and De La Soul on June 10 in Atlanta. Between touring, the crooner managed contribute to Common’s BE album, Kanye’s upcoming Late Registration, and with the Black Eyed Peas for Monkey Business. Common and Legend, along with Kanye West are presently featured on the newest issue of VIBE magazine in an expose that reveals the inner workings of their personal and professional relationships. The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have launched a brand new Web Site, PETAWorld.com, geared toward the urban market in hopes of continuing to spread their message against animal abuse and injustices. Joining Common, Pharrell and The Roots, Pharcyde’s Imani Wilcox is the latest rapper to lend his name to the progressive group in order to promote vegetarianism. "“I’m down with PETA, and I stopped eating meat. Because what if animals could talk?” Wilcox said in a statement. “I don’t eat faces. I don’t eat nothin’ that got a face. It’s just wrong, man. You might as well be a cannibal if you meat, man.”
