Adding yet another
rapper to his catalog of co-stars, actor/former rapper Mark Wahlberg will star
alongside OutKast’s Andre 3000 in a new action-drama film.
The John Singleton-directed movie centers around four adopted
brothers who seek to avenge their mother’s murder.
"This cast is gonna kick ass," Singleton told AllHipHop.com.
"It’s a real man’s movie full of humor and action."
The yet-untitled flick will also star Garret Hedlund ("Friday
Night Lights") and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson, who made his first acting
appearances in "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "Baby Boy," both directed
by Singleton.
"I got the right cast lead by Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese, Andre
3000, and Garrett Hedlund," Singleton said. "We gonna tear up this
summer.
Principle photography for the movie starts on Monday (Jan. 10).
Wahlberg’s reel of movies has featured some of rap’s finest,
including the smash "The Italian Job," co-starring Mos Def.
Wahlberg is also currently in production on a documentary with
incarcerated rapper Shyne about their lives and differences.
The film features Wahlberg talking with Shyne and his fellow
inmates, in addition to interviews with hip-hop notables.
A coinciding album is currently in the works, with production
from Kanye West, Just Blaze and the Alchemist.
Andre 3000’s film ventures include the upcoming feature "Be
Cool" and Guy Ritchie’s "Revolver."
The OutKast member will also star with his other half Big Boi
in an HBO movie.
