(AllHipHop News) A landmark venue in the New York music scene will close down thanks to soaring rent prices in the city.

Over the years, B.B. King’s Blues Club & Grill has hosted thousands of hip-hop performances.

Now, the owners of the venue have tapped some famous rappers to help close the establishment.

The proprietors have announced B.B. King’s Blues Club & Grill will host its final show at the Time Square location on April 29th.

The venue will be closing down after 18 years in business because the partners cannot afford the Times Square location anymore.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share that after 18 wonderful years bringing you live performances by some of the most talented names in music and entertainment, we have announced our final run of shows in the current Times Square location,” a statement said. “As a result of escalating rent, we are being forced to close our doors at the end of April.”

A series of farewell final concerts will take place at B.B. King’s prepares to close, in search of a new, less expensive venue in Manhattan.

Rick Ross will hit the stage on April 23, while Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh and Special Guests will perform on April 25.
