White passed away yesterday morning around 9:30 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to White’s manager, Ned Shankman. White’s influence on hip-hop is strong, as his music has been sampled time and again by numerous rappers. After a long career in music and despite producing many classics, White didn’t win his first Grammy’s until 2000, for best male and traditional R&B vocal performance for his song "Staying Power." White is survived by eight children.
