Contrary to published reports, superstar rapper The Game has not been banned from conducting interviews on BBC’s Radio 1 station, AllHipHop.com has learned.
Last week, various websites, including AllHipHop.com, reported that the rapper was permanently banned from conducting interviews, due to homophobic comments the rapper made during an interview lastsummer.
A complaint was filed against the BBC over the homophobic comments the rapper made during a July 2006 interview on The Jo Whiley Show on BBC’s Radio 1.
According to the false reports, The Game was supposedly banned from conducting interviews on the BBC due to the comments, but his music would still be allowed to be played of the airwaves.
A representative for the BBC told AllHipHop.com that the information is in accurate.
“The BBC does not ban artists, but we do have editorial guidelines making clear that we do not condone homophobic comments or bad language, which all artists are expected to follow when they are on air during a live interview,” a representative for BBC’s Radio 1 told AllHipHop.com.
The warning comes as The Game tours Europe on a promotional tour and is scheduled to make several interview appearances on Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
