(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kendrick Lamar is celebrating after helping Black Panther: The Album leap to the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
The “Humble.” hitmaker co-curated the project, recruiting stars like The Weeknd, Khalid, SZA, Future, Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, and James Blake to contribute to the disc, and now their hard work has paid off, with the album debuting at number one.
It shifted 154,000 equivalent units in its first week on release, with 52,000 of those in traditional sales.
The chart news emerges on the same day it was announced the Marvel blockbuster had officially shattered North American box office records, landing the fifth highest-grossing debut to date with a massive $361 million haul.
Back in the Billboard 200, Justin Timberlake slips to second place with Man of the Woods, followed by The Greatest Showman soundtrack, which stays put at three.
Rappers Migos are in fourth with Culture II, and the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack enters at five.
