Bad Boy Rapper Black Rob was arrested Monday (November 22) for allegedly breaking into a woman’s room at a hotel and stealing cash and jewelry, according to police.
A security video reportedly caught the Harlem rapper inspecting random doors on the 12th floor of On The Ave Hotel around 4 a.m., police said.
Rob, born Robert Moss, is apparently seen emerging from a woman’s room with a pocket book.
Security guards viewed the tape once Renu Vermani, a renowned cardiologist from Maryland, reported $6,000 in jewelry and $300 cash lost.
Vermani told cops she had been sleeping in her room at the time of the theft and arose to find her possessions missing, according to reports.
Police said Rob had no jewelry on him at the time of the arrest (11:30 a.m.), but they allegedly convinced him to contact his friend and accomplice in the burglary, Damien Ashmeade, who then brought the stolen jewelry to the 20th Precinct station house.
Rob, who spent 12 of his 28 years in juvenile detention centers, group homes and prison due to armed and unarmed robbery convictions, is no stranger to jail time.
The Bad Boy Entertainment prodigy released his debut album Life Story in 2000, featuring his hit single “Whoa!”
During the same year, Rob was arrested on criminal weapon and drug possession charges stemming from an incident where the rapper stopped his car to sign an autograph and NYPD officers allegedly saw him pass a .22-caliber Derringer pistol to the passenger.
