Roc-A-Fella rapper Cam’ron’s Come Home With Me
was certified platinum this week, by the Recording Industry Association Of America
(RIAA). The album’s success has been fueled by two major singles, "Oh Boy,"
and "Hey Ma." Cam recently dropped a single and video for "Daydreaming,"
both receiving rotation on MTV and BET.
"We felt Roc-A-Fella would be a better place,"
Cam told AllHipHop.com. "I recorded a third album on Epic and they said
they didn’t hear any songs they liked and me and Dame were like “ya’ll
are buggin.” So, I just became a problem to the point where they didn’t
want to work with me anymore. I didn’t go to the studio, radio or nothing.
I was a total a**hole. I made it so it was cheaper to get rid of me."
Cam and his crew the Diplomats, which feature
Freekey Zekey, Jimmy Jones and Juelz Santana, are working to drop their debut
album Diplomatic Immunity March 4. The release will be the first on Cam’s Diplomat
Records imprint.
"I’ve got Juelz Santana and Jimmy Jones
coming out," Cam continued. "Everybody wanted to sign [Juelz] but
Rocafella came with the right paper. He was on my last album, SDE, too. Epic
didn’t want to sign him so I’m sure they feel like sh*t."
"Everything’s finally coming together,"
Cam’ron said. "Basically it makes me realize that I’ve been on the wrong
team with the right music, so I’m just happy to have the right music be on the
right team."
