(AllHipHop News) With all the attention on women in Hip Hop culture at the moment, the news of Cardi B signing a multi-million dollar deal with Atlantic Records seemed to come at the perfect time.
The creator of the Gangsta B-tch Music mixtape sat down with Angie Martinez for an interview.
Martinez asked Cardi about the reports of her partnership with Atlantic, but the Bronx native did not directly answer the question.
“All I want to say is: looking like a caught a lick,” responded Cardi.
She added, “I ain’t gonna talk about it because I still be in the hood.
Cardi was open to discussing the ongoing debate over artists choosing to sign with a major label or staying independent.
“I battle with it. Sometimes I even feel bad for independent artists because it’s hard for them to get on the radio. That’s one thing,” said the former Love & Hip Hop star. “On top of that, people always want to make you uncredible because you’re not signed or people don’t want to take you serious.”
Cardi continued, “It’s hard to get on things like the Grammys or BET Awards because you’re not signed.”
Recently, Cardi B performed at a show with Lil Kim and Remy Ma.
