(AllHipHop News) For months, there have been rumors of a behind-the-scenes feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Yesterday, it all came to a head in public thanks to Nicki’s new interview with Zane Lowe.
The Beats 1 discussion featured the Young Money rapper sharing her side of the story about the creation of the “MotorSport” single by Migos. Nicki stated, “The first interview [Cardi] did after ‘MotorSport’ came out, it just really hurt me, because she looked so aggravated and angry, and the only thing she kept saying was, ‘I didn’t hear that, she changed her verse.'”
Apparently, Minaj was referring to an interview Cardi did with Capital XTRA where she said, “When I heard [‘MotorSport,’] her verse wasn’t finished. It’s not the verse that’s on it right now… I just felt like it’s a perfect opportunity for me to be on a track that’s big like them.” Nicki later admitted she did alter her verse but claimed it was Cardi and Atlantic Records that asked for the lyric changes.
The revelations on Lowe’s radio show caused fans of the two stars to defend their favored artist across social media. Nicki Minaj (86 million followers) and Cardi B (21 million followers) uploaded videos to their respective Instagram pages just hours apart.

Nicki’s “in-studio” performance of “Chun-Li” totaled 3.7 million views/760,000 likes, at the time of publication. However, Cardi’s clip of her dancing to “Drip” – posted 2 hours after Nicki’s vid – collected 8 million views/2.3 million likes.
While the IG view count is not necessarily an indication of which woman is garnering more support at the moment, it does show there is still a high level of interest in Cardi B even during this “MotorSport” dust-up. Meanwhile, Nicki is dominating the current iTunes charts as ‘Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz” hold the top two spots.
