(AllHipHop News) Over the past seventeen months, Chance The Rapper has collaborated with rival rappers Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Lil Chano appeared on Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy album, and he tapped Nicki for two tracks on his The Big Day studio LP.
Big Boy spoke to Chance about managing to stay out of the Cardi-Nicki beef. The over hour-long interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood included the Chicago wordsmith sharing his views on the highly-publicized feud.
“A lot of that stuff is produced. Everything is curated before we get to see it. Like, all the information, the way that they phrase it to us, the way they put people against [each other],” said Chance. “It’s made for you to accept it a certain way, so a lot of people had to choose a side. I don’t want to speak for them at all, but I feel like to a certain extent, they got pushed into that too, and I don’t think that all of that was a hundred percent their feelings.”
The 3-time Grammy winner continued, “Just being honest, they are two of the greatest recording artists. And that’s just facts. The way that their music touches people, the way they’ve impacted music has been incredible.”
Rising rap star Megan Thee Stallion offered a similar sentiment about the Cardi B and Nicki Minaj situation. In August, she stated, “It’s really like a lot of the fans. They really make it seem like you’re ‘picking sides.’ I really, really, really like both of them. They’re two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them.”
During his Q&A with Real 92.3, Chance also revealed how the nuptials between Cardi and Offset inspired him to propose to his long-time girlfriend Kirsten Corley. Offset’s wife and Corley’s husband will join Tip “T.I.” Harris as judges on the forthcoming Netflix competition series Rhythm + Flow.
