(AllHipHop News) Chancelor “Chance The Rapper” Bennett is heavily involved in promoting and supporting education. For example, the Coloring Book creator shared his wealth by donating $1 million to the Chicago school system in 2017.
Now Lil Chano will be sharing his wisdom with the students of Dillard University. The New Orleans HBCU invited Bennett to give the commencement speech for the Class of 2018.
“I thought he made for a great commencement speaker because of his spirit of being entrepreneurial and authentic. But his civic engagement, including encouraging people to vote and willingness to speak out on issues, like his recent opposition to a Heineken ad, are just as paramount,” said Dillard President Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough.
Last year, Chance teamed his SocialWorks non-profit organization with LANDR to present audio mastering classes as part of the Kids of the Kingdom Summer Music Academy in Chicago. The Grammy winner also launched the [Twilight Awards](“teachers, parents, principals, and students that convey leadership”.) to honor teachers, parents, principals, and students for their outstanding contribution to the education system.
