New Jersey’s Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will
present "Alternate Routes: World Festival VI presents Planet Hip Hop,"
a four-day, international festival, which organizers bill as a high-energy celebration
of the creators and master practitioners of Hip Hop movement.
Taking place Thursday October 31 through November
2, the festival will feature hip-hop icon Chuck D., who is scheduled to deliver
the keynote speech. Danny Hoch, the New York stage writer/performer who appeared
in the cult classic "White Boys," and who also directed "Jails,
Hospitals & Hip-Hop," a movie version of his one man theatrical show,
will also be present during the festival.
Toni Blackman (of the Freestyle Union), Afrika
Bambaataa, Rah Digga and Doug E. Fresh and a full line-up of spoken word events,
theater, music and dance performances, round table discussions, screenings,
and other presentations will take place.
