Common has teamed with directorial
team Coodie and Chike to narrate their first motion picture on former Gangster
Disciple Harold "Noonie" Ward.
“The Noonie G. Story”
portrays Ward’s ascent into Chicago’s entertainment, business and political
worlds.
Ward is a former high-ranking
member of the Gangster Disciples, one of the largest criminal organization in
the U.S.
Ward gave up the gangster
life and deleved into productive, legitimate businesses throughout Chicago.
The film, produced by Brandon
Himmel for Bock 8 Productions, captures the essence of gang life in Chicago
and shows the danger and sensationalism involved with it.
Award-winning journalist Adam Matthews helped shape the film’s narrative and wrote Common’s script.Coodie and Chike are best
known for their work directing music videos. They were the men behind the lens
for Kanye West’s "Through the Wire," "Jesus Walks" and "Two
Words."
They have also done videos
for Pitbull and Lil’ Jon and Mos Def’.
"The Noonie G. Story"
is being filmed in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Detroit.
