The R&B group
112 has been signing to women since their 1996 debut 112, but 10 years later the
group is starting to diversify and launch new businesses.
Daron Jones, producer and member of the group 112, has teamed up with T.I., Mike
Jones, Killer Mike, Free (formerly of 106 & Park) and countless others to
release “R&B Mixtape King Vol.1.”
"I just think that
it’s time that people see us as individuals,” Daron told AllHipHop.com.”I
wanted to release a Hip-Hop mixtape because I love Hip-Hop, that’s all I listen
to and if you look back, that’s what 112’s career was influenced by."
“The R&B King Mixtape Vol. 1” is slated to hit stores in the
fall and is the first installment of a long list of planned compilations and
mixtapes from the Atlanta bred crooner.
In addition to the musical projects, Daron is also planning to venture into
the world of fashion with a women’s clothing line called D. Jones Clothing,
which is scheduled to launch in 2006.
Daron isn’t the only member
stepping out to establish himself as an individual.
Slim, born Marvin Scandric,
is the front man of the group but don’t expect an album from him anytime soon.
“I am focused on investing
my money into real estate and other business ventures," Slim told AllHipHop.com.
"I have already opened a car wash in Atlanta that is very successful and
I am closing [a deal] on some property.”
Mike [Keith] is
in the process of shooting a pilot for a show that may air on HBO and Q has
been tapped by the NBA to play in their Entertainer’s League, along side superstars
like Brian McKnight, Ice Cube, Larenz Tate and other celebrities.
112 is currently on the road promoting their latest release Pleasure & Pain.
