Death Row Records
is entering the wireless world and has just inked a deal to provide fans with
ringtones, wallpapers, video tones and videos of Death Row artists.
The exclusive content
features material from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Kurupt and will be distributed
on a global basis.
The deal worldwide
deal was brokered by the Nickels Group, a company that Death Row founder Suge
Knight has a personal relationship with.
I couldn’t
think of anyone more capable of putting this content into the right hands,”
Knight said. [We] look forward to becoming leaders in the digital and wireless
space.”
Some of Death Row’s
most popular releases will be available in different wireless formats, including
Tupac’s “How Do You Want It” and Snoop Dogg’s classic
“Who Am I (What’s My Name),”
Previously unreleased
photographs will also be available. Interestingly, the first markets Death Row
will introduce the content to will be the U.K. and South Africa.
A U.S. distribution
agreement is currently being negotiated.
