Director Of Nicki Minaj's "Only" Lyric Video Blames The Media For Nazism Controversy

JEFF M. OSBORNE TALKS CRITICISM OF NICKI’S VIDEO

(AllHipHop News) After Nicki Minaj tweeted that she would never condone Nazi imagery in her art, the director of the Young Money rapper’s “Only” lyric video, Jeff M. Osborne, stated he did purposely include references to Adolf Hitler’s Third R#### regime in Nicki’s clip. Osborne was a guest on Alex Jones’ radio program recently to speak about the criticism surrounding the “Only” video.

“I wasn’t expecting this type of reaction, because this type of imagery is all over the place,” said Osborne. “I don’t know what it specifically was, whether it was too straight forward. I was getting hate mail, tweets. Just because someone does that I’m not going to back down in what I believe in. Also, I’m not anti-Semitic.”

Osborne added that the point of the video was to show that totalitarianism still exists today. He also placed blame on the media for creating the controversy surrounding the visuals.

“You can tell that media has just become very fast, lacks integrity, and just really jumping on something to cause a stir rather than tell the truth,” stated the director. He later added, “I think the media is part of the problem, because they just take something and try to spin it to cause backlash and basically separate people and cause misunderstanding.”

Osborne revealed that he never actually spoke face-to-face with Nicki Minaj about the video’s theme. According to the visual artist, he was sent information about the concept of the video, and he added his artistic interpretation to it. Osborne suggested that Nicki’s team may not have understood the full message he was trying to convey with the various images displayed in the video.
