Dizzee Rascal’s Pissed Over British Rappers’ Snubs At Glastonbury - AllHipHop

Dizzee Rascal’s P##### Over British Rappers’ Snubs At Glastonbury

DIZZEE RASCAL FRUSTRATED BRITISH RAPPERS YET TO HEADLINE GLASTONBURY READ MORE!

(AllHipHop News) Dizzee Rascal is angry British rappers like himself have never headlined the Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury music festival.

The grime superstar, 32, performed in a headline slot on Friday at the famous music event in Somerset, England but was relegated to the smaller West Holts stage, rather than performing at Glastonbury’s most famous venue.

He says he’s frustrated that unlike major U.S. acts like Jay Z and Kanye West, British hip-hop stars have never been given the chance to take a coveted night-time slot on the Pyramid stage.

“I’ve toured this festival for years, never disappointed,” he told the BBC. “You can always count on me. I’m basically at the stage where they need to make me headline this thing – because they ain’t had no British rappers headline this festival.”

Although Dizzee has performed on the Pyramid stage several times, notably playing acclaimed sets in 2009 and 2010, he performed in front of the smaller afternoon crowds.

“I’ve been on the main stage, but I need to headline the whole ting (thing),” he explained “I’ve got 15 years of bangers. I’m confident I would tear it up.”

Despite his disappointment at missing out on a prestigious Pyramid stage headlining slot, the “Bonkers” rapper added, “It’s the biggest festival you could do. It’s a privilege.”

Festival organizers gave one major headlining slot to a British hip-hop act, as grime collective Boy Better Know closed the festival on the Other stage, Glastonbury’s second largest, on Sunday (June 25)
