(AllHipHop News) Viewers will have to wait until 2018 to catch new episodes of the FX series Atlanta.
However, fans of the show can be happy to know Donald Glover’s dramedy about his hometown picked up six nominations for the 69th Annual Emmy Awards.
Atlanta joins Black-ish, Master of None, Modern Family, Silicon Valley, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Veep in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.
Glover will be competing against Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Aziz Ansari (Master of None), Zack Galifinakis (Baskets), William H. Macy (Shameless), and Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
The 33-year-old entertainer also earned nods for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the “B.A.N.” episode.
Atlanta picked up additional nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Stephen Glover – “Streets On Lock”) and Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series.
Season one of Atlanta began airing on September 6, 2016.
The premiere episode (“The Big Bang”) was met with instant praise, and it collected the highest number of viewers for a basic cable comedy debut since 2013.
Atlanta went on to be honored by the American Film Institute Awards, Critics’ Choice Television Awards, Golden Globe Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Producers Guild of America Awards, and Writers Guild of America Awards.
