(AllHipHop News) As 2019 winds down, music fans and pundits will begin reflecting on the last ten years. Who was the artist of the decade? According to Spotify’s streaming numbers, Drake was the king of the 2010s.
The streamer released its “A Decade Wrapped” lists, and Drake topped the rankings of the Most-Streamed Artists of the Decade (Global) with more than 28 billion streams. He was followed by Ed Sheeran (#2), Post Malone (#3), Ariana Grande (#4), and Eminem (#5).
Sheeran landed two songs on the list of Most-Streamed Tracks of the Decade (Global): “Shape of You” (#1) and “Thinking out Loud” (#5). The rest of the Top 5 includes “One Dance” by Drake, Kyla, & WizKid (#2), “Rockstar” by Post Malone & 21 Savage (#3), and “Closer” by Halsey & The Chainsmokers (#4).
Ariana Grande (#1), Rihanna (#2), Taylor Swift (#3), Sia (#4), and Beyoncé (#5) were the Most-Streamed Female Artists of the Decade (Global). For the Most-Streamed Male Artists of the Decade (Global), Drake (#1), Ed Sheeran (#2), Post Malone (#3), Eminem (#4), and The Weeknd (#5) led the list.
