Dr.
Dre
is the latest artistto issue a warning to Napster, the software company that allows
users to scan each others hard drives for MP3’s. Dre gave Napster
until Friday to take his song catalog out of the directory, claiming
that it is infringing on his copyrights. Dre sent a letter to
Napsters CEO Eileen Richardson. This is the latest in a legal
round for Napster, which includes lawsuits from the RIAA and Metallica.
Dre has also had his share of legal battles in the past few months,
with musicmaker.com and SOLAR’S Dick Griffey. With all of Dre’s
catalog on the Napster servers, he still managed to go Platinum
with his latest release, Dr. Dre 2001.
