Eminem
was granted his visa from the Australian
government to perform, along with a strict message
to respect the countries value and multicultural society.
Lawmakers and other groups were opposed to allowing
Eminem and D-12 into the country, claiming that his
lyrics were violent and homophobic.
The groups
were attempting to ban Em on the grounds that his
legal record, most of which he gathered this year,
should keep him from coming into the country because
of bad character.
Immigration
Minister Philip Ruddock said " The Visa carries
with it a responsibility of respect for our multicultural
society and values and the need to avoid vilifying
or inciting discord."
