EPMD’s long time DJ and producer DJ Scratch was
injured last week when when a motorcycle he was riding skid out of control,
on the Nassau Expressway in New York, where he and friends were riding their
motorcycles.
Scratch, who describes himself as a professional
rider, suffered abrasions to his hands. "I still have full use of my hands,"
Scratch told AllHipHop.com. "I can get on the turntables right now and
do my thing. I am supposed to go on the Sprite tour with Jay-Z, but I don’t
know if I am going to make it, I want to heal a little bit."
Scratch said that he was racing his new Suzuki
Ducati 1000, which he recently bought for his birthday. "Those sh*ts are
like the Bentley’s of motorcycles man," Scratch said. "I was going
almost 100 miles per hour, when I hit a patch of gravel, making a turn."
He was thrown from the bike, taken to the hospital and released the same day.
In more positive news, Scratch recently finished
producing songs for Jay-Z’s Blueprint 2 album and just finished laying
down tracks for DMX, Busta Rhymes, the new Flipmode album and Snoop Dogg.
"I’m just happy to be alive, the accident
could have been much worse," Scratch said.
