Exclusive: Don Trip Talks “Allen Iverson” Single; Guerilla Mixtape Set For Feb

CHECK OUT DON TRIP EXPLAINING HIS CUT “ALLEN IVERSON”

(AllHipHop News) Interscope signed/ Memphis bred rapper Don Trip spoke with AllHipHop.com about his upcoming mixtape, Guerilla, set to drop February 27th online.

The mixtape, which features the song “Allen Iverson,” samples clips from Iverson’s famous rant about practice

Don Trip laces the Cool and Dre produced track, while examining the role that the media has on shaping the lives of musicians and athletes alike.

“That Allen Iverson record, it’s a saying so to speak, that even though I’m not in the light of an Allen Iverson in my career where he was, somehow we forget that celebrities are human and we forget where they come from and we forget who they really are, ” Don Trip told AllHipHop.com. “The more we start to see who that person is, the more we put them higher on a pedestal, and we start to crucify them when they start to make mistakes, as if we all aren’t human and we all aren’t entitled to make mistakes.

Don Trip’s own buzz and popularity led him to writing the song that he says was necessary, due to the frenzy of paparazzi, websites and bloggers.

“I feel that record shows that I go through the same things, even though I’m not on the same level, but I go through the same thing to where I got a little bit of notoriety, and at this point when I do certain things, people look at it like I’m a superhero, like I’m not supposed to do like things,” Don Trip said. “I feel like its a record that needed to be done.”

Don Trip’s Gansta Grillz Guerilla mixtape with DJ Drama is full of features, with 17 tracks.

Big names like Wale, Yo Gotti, 2Chainz and Juicy J, and production from The Renegades, Drumma Boy, Infamous, Cool & Dre and Mark Henry rounds out the mixtape

But Don Trip wants to keep the official album mostly just himself, by limiting features, except on the hooks.

“As far as the album so far all I got is Cee-Lo. I feel like when it comes to the album, I gotta present more of me than anybody and me flooding it out with collaborations is only gonna taint it and make the picture more blurry than I need it to be. For the most part, I need that to be HD clear, so you know, the only person I need on that is me,” Don Trip explained.
