Juvenile Hell may have been our first official introduction to Mobb Deep, but it was the 1995 release of Infamous that delivered their first taste of critical acclaim and mainstream fame. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Prodigy and Havoc first burst onto the scene, yet as the anniversary of their first commercial hit comes around, the duo sat down with AllHipHop to reveal just what their breakout project means to them:
In one word: everything. It’s the reason for everything. It always like, makes me trip out, like bug out when we perform that song and the crowd goes bananas.” They added, “It’s always mind blowing. Nowadays when we be performing, some of the kids in the crowd be like 19, so they wasn’t even alive when it dropped and they be singing it word for word.
In celebration of the album, they’ve brought in Alchemist, Smif-N-Wessun and more for a star-studded concert with sounds provided by Funkmaster Flex. For more information on how you can be in the building as they crash the stage April 26 click here.
