(AllHipHop News) Back in 2015, Migos released the Back To The Bando mixtape which included a track titled “Forest Whitaker.” The song’s namesake had never publicly responded to the rap group’s record, until now.
Forest Whitaker appeared on MSNBC’s The Beat with Ari Melber to discuss his EPIX drama series Godfather Of Harlem. Melber, a bonafide Hip Hop head, also took the opportunity to ask the Oscar-winning actor about Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset.
“I like Migos,” said Whitaker. “The first time I think I heard [‘Forest Whitaker’], my daughter called me from school and told me they’re playing this song, and I listened to it. It’s really pretty brilliant how they took all of these films I’ve done and put them together in this amazing song. That’s quite surprising actually.”
Forest Whitaker plays New York City gangster Bumpy Johnson in the Godfather of Harlem. The show’s soundtrack is filled with Hip Hop acts such as Swizz Beatz, DMX, Rick Ross, Pusha T, 21 Savage, French Montana, A$AP Ferg, Wale, Buddy, and Dave East.
