The mother of Funkmaster Flex won a child support settlement against the popular Hot 97 DJ yesterday. Flex agreed in Family Court yesterday to pay child support to his 2-year-old son by Haydee Diaz, with whom he has no romantic relationship.
The Hot 97 DJ will support his child financially from his $208,000 salary according to reports. In addition, Flex must also arrange for medical insurance, set up a college fund of $55,000 by 2005 and buy a $600,000 life insurance policy.
Despite his monetary aide, Diaz, 32, claims Flex (ne’ Aston Taylor) wants nothing to do with the child beyond that.
“These were his words: ‘I’m not built to stroll a stroller in the park’,” she said to the New York Post.
Flex has a daughter born two months after his son with Diaz, whom he is reportedly ecstatic with.
“He’s ga-ga over his marital child,” Diaz lawyer Suzanne Kimberly Brecker said. “It’s heartbreaking.”
Representatives for Flex had no comment on Diaz’s claims at press time.
Though Flex was involved with the mother of his daughter at the time of his involvement with Diaz, the two were not married at the time. Despite hearsay that the popular radio personality was engaged, Diaz claims Flex continually refuted the rumors.
Early last month Flex pleaded guilty to harassment charges stemming from his dispute with rival radio personality Steph Lova, amid the summer feud between Nas and Hot 97. Flex avoided jail time by agreeing to perform 35 hours of community service, however the two parties will face off again in civil court as Steph Lova has hit Funkmaster Flex with a $5 million civil lawsuit.
