(AllHipHop News) Cee Lo Green and Danger Mouse put plans to revive their duo Gnarls Barkley on hold following the election of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The duo released albums St. Elsewhere and The Odd Couple in 2006 and 2008 and have been in talks about reuniting for the past few years but they haven’t yet managed to get it together.
Producer Danger Mouse, real name Brian Burton, admitted during an interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Monday (April 3) that they still have the “creative desire” to revive the joint project and were due to meet on election night in November, but he was so shocked by the outcome that he sat at home and drank by himself.
“The last time we saw each other was the day before the election in Los Angeles,” he said. “And we were supposed to meet the next day and I was like, ‘this thing will be over with by 7 o’clock West Coast time. I’ll see you around 8 or 9 or something.’ I was drinking heavily on a couch by myself staring at the TV at that time. I don’t even know where he was.”
However, he believes a future collaboration could still happen because that chapter doesn’t feel closed and they have remained friends.
“That was a part of our lives that never really felt over and never really felt finished and he and I still do discuss it a lot. So that means there’s never not been a potential in my head, so it’s definitely a possibility,” he said.
