From Redman to Cypress Hill and many artists in between, rap music and marijuana have always been close friends and now High Times magazine makes huge the leap into hip-hop music. With THC (The Hip-Hop Collection) Vol.1, the magazine harnesses the power of the plant and its 500, 000 readers to assemble some of the raps finest like RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), MF DOOM, B-Real (Cypress Hill), The Pharcyde, The Beatnuts, The High and Mighty, Dafari, The Liks and Black Moon.
The first single is from The Black Moon "Hightimes" with the follow up being new comers Serial Rhyme Killers with "Something About Mary." Dru Ha, the manager of Black Moon is also working on the project handling the street team. Label President Mike Esterson said, "The High Times brand name has proven itself to be an awesome marketing weapon and will continue to do so with this endeavor."
Outside of the music, the deal with Caroline Distribution works well for both parties. "We at Caroline couldn’t be happier than to be joining forces with a bastion of the counterculture [like] High Times. We’ve always been impressed by their consistent support for music from outside the mainstream.
