The Hip-Hop Association
has announced dates for its 4th Annual International Film Festival and 3rd Annual
Education Summit.
Starting November 4th at The Bronx Museum of The Arts, the Hip-Hop
Association will present the H2ED (Hip-Hop Education) Summit.
This year’s event will host teachers, organizations, parents,
social workers, youth educators and explore the theme "ACTIVATE! Utilizing
Hip-Hop as a tool in the classroom and the community."
"We believe in empowering the community," said Martha
Diaz, Founder and Executive Director. "By creating education and media
initiatives, as well as preserving the Hip-Hop culture we know to be based in
positive community movements, we work to encourage critical thinking, social
awareness and unity."
H2ED will have panels, workshops, performances and speakers
Bakari Kitwana, Raqiyah Mays and Roxanne Shante.
Running from November 6-12 will be The H20 (Hip-Hop Odyssey)
International Film Festival. The theme of this year’s event is Peace, Love,
Unity & Having Fun,"
The festival will show over 75 films including "Bling:
Consequences and Repercussions" (narrated by Chuck D), "BEEF 3,"
the classic Kid-n-Play movie "House Party" and many others.
Special honorees include the Hudlin Brothers (House Party),
The Last Poets, Kid-n-Play and more.
Formed in 2002, the Hip-Hop Association is a non-profit organization
aimed at facilitating, fostering and preserving Hip-Hop culture and its community.
