Houston rapper $keeta is facing a serious legal challenge after an altercation in his hometown of Houston last weekend.
The rapper was arrested after a confrontation with a rival turned violent last weekend (January 9th).
Sources told AllHipHop.com $keeta was at a local motel when a man with whom he had a dispute rolled up on him without warning.
The rapper made an attempt to squash the issue, but the problem escalated to violence when a man named Joe Moore drew his weapon on $keeta.
$keeta, who was shot seven times in 2015, was also packing, and in an attempt to defend himself, the rapper fired off shots, striking Moore in the chest three times.
Moore was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
$keeta, real name Kedric Jones, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, being a felon in possession of a weapon, and tampering with evidence.
He is currently out on bail.
$keeta is a Southwest Houston native who gained a buzz with the release of his mixtape “NBS” through Block Entertainment/RCA Records, in addition to his song “Tears” with local legend Z-Ro and a recent collaboration with Trae Tha Truth titled “It Aint Fair.”
In 2019, $keeta was named checked in an article about rising rappers from the city in an article in the HoustonPress, alongside big names like Megan Thee Stallion, Maxo Kream, OMB Bloodbath, and others.
$keeta, who is known for fusing Christianity into his street rhymes, most recently mixtape is called “The Watchman,” which dropped in December of 2020.
