(AllHipHop News) Jason Derulo’s single “Swalla” will always be connected to the Remy Ma vs Nicki Minaj feud.
The track features a Nicki verse that many listeners believed contain subliminal shots at Remy.
“I gave these b-tches two years, now your time’s up. Bless her heart, she throwing shots but every line sucks,” raps Minaj on the record.
Derulo stopped by The Breakfast Club this week, and the Pop star was asked about the perceived Remy disses on “Swalla.”
“I ain’t even put two-and-two together. I didn’t even think about, ‘Oh, she must be talking about somebody different,'” explained Derulo. “It was literally, she dropped the verse and [I] was like, ‘This is dope.'”
He continued, “We didn’t think nothing of it – me, my team, nobody.”
The Florida-bred entertainer was then asked how would he have reacted if Nicki had told him that her lines on the song were meant for Remy.
“It’s your verse. Whatever you want to do on your verse is your verse. That got nothing to do with me personally,” responded Derulo.
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter did admit if Nicki’s verse had included Remy Ma’s name then it “might have been a little much to put” on his song.
Minaj was not the only person involved in the lyrical conflict to use another artist’s record to seemingly take shots at her opponent.
Remy’s bars on Phresher’s “What A Minute Remix” are widely believed to contain subliminal shots at Nicki, even though she denied it.
Even Phresher stated he thought Remy was talking about Minaj on the cut.
