(AllHipHop News) Jay Pharoah visited Hot 97 this week, and the comedian – and part-time rapper – talked about his exit as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.
“If you have multiple people on the cast saying things like, ‘You’re so talented, you’re able, they don’t use you and it’s unfair and it’s making us feel bad because they don’t use you,'” said Pharoah.
He continued, “They put people into boxes. Whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do. I’m fiery too… I’m not a yes n-gga. That’s not me.”
Pharoah then spoke about being asked to wear a dress for a skit on the show.
“I’m not putting on a dress. I’m not getting no tweets from David Banner. He was like, ‘Yo man, don’t put on no dress.’ I was like, ‘alright, cool, I got you David.’ I ain’t never do it,” stated the Virginia native.
According to Pharoah, he was nearly fired in 2013 after pushing for more diversity on SNL.
“A lot of people are scared of [show creator] Lorne [Michaels],” Pharoah claimed. “I respect the hell out of him, but if I want to talk to you, I’ll go up to you, ‘Hey man, this is what I’m feeling. What’s going on?'”
Jay Pharoah is scheduled to perform at Carolines On Broadway in New York City on April 14 and April 15.
The 29-year-old entertainer also has the half-hour comedy series White Famous coming to Showtime.
