(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z’s documentary on Kalief Browder continues to receive accolades.
“Time: The Kalief Browder Story” just won the 2018 Peabody Award, besting 60 other films.
The six-part documentary series chronicles Kalief Browder’s time on Rikers Island.
Browder wasted three years on Rikers Island – 800 of those days in solitary confinement – although he was never charged with a crime.
Browder, who was only 16-years-old at the time of his imprisonment for purportedly stealing a backpack, was stuck on Rikers Island because he couldn’t make the $10,000 bail.
Tragically, in June of 2015 Kalief Browder committed suicide.
