Jimmy "Henchmen"
Rosemond is trekking to Haiti today (March 2) to visit underprivileged children
from the L’Athletique d’Haiti soccer program and donate 200 pairs of sneakers
and soccer balls.
Rosemond, who manages
rapper the Game, will also lend support to Yele Haiti, a charitable organization
founded by rapper/activist Wyclef Jean of the Fugees.
"The deplorable
conditions that I have witnessed in Haiti have created a sense of urgency to
get involved and assist with the rebuilding efforts," said Rosemond. "As
a Haitian-American, I am extremely proud to be able to donate to the children
of Haiti."
Rosemond and Wyclef
Jean will also meet with government officials in Haiti to discuss present conditions
and methods of improvement.
Haiti is currently
one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere, with the majority of its
8 million residents living on less than $1 per day.
Unemployment is
close to 80 percent and average life expectancy is less than 50 years.
"As a man
of influence within the community, it is my responsibility to increase awareness
among the Hip-Hop generation," Rosemond concluded.
