Jordan Peele's Deal With Universal Pictures Worth Over A $100 Million

Jordan Peele’s Deal With Universal Pictures Worth Over A $100 Million

Critically acclaimed director Jordan Peele recently announced a big deal with Universal Pictures.

(AllHipHop News) Jordan Peele has signed an exclusive five-year deal with Universal Pictures.

The “Get Out” filmmaker and his firm Monkeypaw productions have agreed to release all their films with the studio, in a deal reportedly worth more than $100 million.

Announcing the pact with Universal chief Donna Langley, Peele, 40, tells Variety: “It would not have been possible to make ‘Get Out’ and (its follow-up) ‘Us’ without the endless trust and support we received from Donna Langley and the team at Universal.

“Their willingness to take risks and their commitment to original content makes them the perfect collaborative partner for Monkeypaw. I couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead.”

Insiders tell Variety the deal matches the nine-figure overall deals top creatives like Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes have signed with Netflix.

But Jordan’s deal is structured to include upfront compensation, operational costs, and backend box office percentages.

The agreement will cover two films Peele and Universal currently have in development, for which he will serve as writer, director, and producer, as well as Monkeypaw’s “Candyman” remake.

Peele and his production partner Win Rosenfeld are writing the script for the reimagined horror, with Little Woods filmmaker Nia DaCosta directing.
