“THE MEDIA NEEDS TO STOP PUSHING IT IN OUR FACES”

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and Isaiah Rashad sat down with Hot 97 to talk about various topics. Besides covering music, the TDE representatives touched on the recent shooting in Charleston, South Carolina where nine Black church goers were killed by a white supremacist.

“I feel like, personally, there’s an energy that’s trying to spark an evil race war. Because these events are happening back-to-back,” said Kendrick. “It’s demonized events now. It’s starting to get a little deeper than just hatred.”

While K. Dot offered there is a spiritual component to the tragedies happening around the country, Schoolboy Q focused on the media’s coverage of the issues.

“The media loves this, and we just keep giving them more power by talking about it. We know what’s going on. I just think the media needs to stop pushing it in our faces all the time. It makes hate,” Schoolboy added. “You’re sitting their with your daughter watching TV, and they’re talking about a white dude done killed nine Black people in the church. That makes me hate a little bit.”
