(AllHipHop News) Led by DJ Khaled’s Grateful and Jay-Z’s 4:44, Hip Hop dominated the Billboard 200 in the month of July.
At one point, the top four spots on the chart were filled by rap albums, and then seven days later, Hip Hop acts occupied the top five positions.
Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life and Arcade Fire’s Everything Now have been the respective chart leaders over the last two weeks, but Hip Hop projects still maintain strong positions on the Billboard 200.
Kendrick Lamar spent his 16th consecutive week in the Top 5 as DAMN rose back to #2 (47,000 equivalent album units).
The TDE emcee was followed at #3 by Meek Mill’s Wins & Losses.
Meek fell slightly short of earning the pole position last week as Lust for Life and Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy edged him out by a few thousand units.
However, the second-week numbers for Wins & Losses (#3; 37,000 units) easily topped the week two totals for Lust for Life (#10; 27,000 units) and Flower Boy (#12; 26,000 units).
The rest of the current Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart also consists of DJ Khaled’s Grateful (#4; 34,000 units), Jay-Z’s 4:44 (#5; 33,000 units), and 21 Savage’s Issa Album (#6; 31,000 units).
Arcade Fire collected their third straight #1 album with Everything Now (100,000 units).
