Kentucky Governor Paul E. Patton declared today
(September 16) "Nappy Roots Day." The group will be honored at a special
ceremony in Shelbyville, Kentucky and will also perform at the event.
Group members Scales, Big V., Ron Clutch, R.
Prophet Milledgeville, Skinny Deville and B. Stille will also be named official
"Kentucky Colonels" during the ceremony.
"Nappy Roots Day" is a part of the
Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship program, which provides Kentucky
high school students that maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or better with
financial assistance toward their college education. Nappy Roots originally
formed at Western Kentucky University in 1995.
The group will also release their first DVD,
"Nappy Roots: The World According To Nappy," tomorrow (September 17th.).
According to Atlantic Records, the DVD features behind the scenes footage and
footage of the group on the road, as well as a live performance of "Po’
Folks," which was shot at The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and Museum, as
well as the unreleased "PO Folks Collipark" remix, which features
the Ying Yang Twinz.
