(AllHipHop News) Kanye West caught significant heat when the global music star decided to meet with Donald Trump for a photo-op in December.
Numerous members of the Hip Hop community – such as Common, John Legend, YG, Nipsey Hussle, RZA, and T.I. – have given their opinions on Kanye’s Trump Tower appearance.
Great Britain’s Channel 4 spoke with American rap group Run The Jewels, and Killer Mike answered a question about the Kanye/Trump meeting.
“Didn’t bother me. Why wouldn’t you?” responded Mike. “Black people shouldn’t have permanent friends or enemies. They should have permanent interest.”
The Atlanta spitter continued, “If it wasn’t for Dr. Martin Luther King being willing to meet with people like [former Alabama Governor] George Wallace, George Wallace would not have ended up starting a racist bigot – he ended a person that had found God in some way, appointed more blacks to his office than any other governor since him.”
Killer Mike went on to say he was more interested in NFL great/activist Jim Brown conversing with the president.
“[Brown] sitting with President Trump was a significant thing for me, because I know on the other side of the table he was telling the truth,” stated the “Reagan” rapper.
As for Kanye, it is not clear if he is still a supporter of Trump like he expressed at a concert last fall.
In February, Ye reportedly deleted any mentions of Trump from his Twitter page.
Killer Mike was one of the most visible celebrity endorsers of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
“I always though it was just rap, personally.”
