According

to sources, West coast pioneer King

Tee will be dropping an album early next

year. With production by Dr. Dre and Battlecat, the

LP will be

released independently and distributed by the late

Eazy E’s Ruthless Records imprint. The untitled LP

is set for a February 2002 release.

"With

this record, we want to be universal,” King Tee said.

“but we still stick with the gangsta vibe.”

For those

who aren’t familiar with Tee, he was a member of the

original Compton Posse, which featured Mix Master

S####, Toddy Tee and DJ Pooh. He did time with Ice

T’s Rhyme Syndicate and the Likwit Crew and spent

some time on Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label. Tee debuted

back in 1989 with his classic LP, Act a Fool,

which was released on Capitol. He followed in

1999 with At Your Own Risk. After a hiatus,

he returned with Tha Triflin’ Album in 1993,

and two years later he returned with King Tee IV

Life.

A collection

of greatest hits has also been released on King Tee,

Ruff Rhymes, named after his hit song of the

same name, which dropped in 1998. If you watch closely

in DJ Pooh’s movie "Three Strikes," you

can catch Tee starring as "The Liquor Store Thug."

King Tee

also recorded an album which was never released, Thy

Kingdom Come
