(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kodak Black is asking a judge to take it easy on him next week when he is sentenced for lying on a federal form to buy guns.
Today (November 8), Kodak’s lawyer Bradford Cohen told the judge that the rapper’s life was in danger, which is why he desperately sought the weapons.
Although it won’t be admissible in court, Kodak Black took a lie detector test to prove the threats against his life were real, thus the need for protection.
“When asked the question ‘if he purchased these weapons for self-defense,’ the Defendant answered ‘yes’ and the results were marked as 99.9% truthful,” Bradford Cohen said. “Although not admissible for purposes of trial, this report is certainly something the Court can consider in regards to sentencing.”
According to Cohen, the threats against Kodak Black grew so intense, the rapper was forced to buy an armored Cadillac Escalade.
Kodak Black, real name Bill K. Kapri, took shooting lessons, enrolled in a firearms training course and obtained a certificate of completion.
Through his lawyer, Kodak Black also asked a judge to weigh his charitable work when he is sentenced.
Kodak pointed out a variety of philanthropic works, noting that he purchased thousands of notebooks for children, started a scholarship for Parkland shooting victims, and donated money to a slain police officer’s family in South Carolina
According to sentencing guidelines, Kodak Black could be hit 4.5 years in jail for lying on the federal form.
However his lawyer Bradford Cohen is asking the judge to consider a term of three years or less when he is sentenced on November 13, 2019.
Kodak is currently being housed at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.
